No Temperature

It's 4:50pm on Saturday here in Northeast Iowa. This doesn't happen all that often, but there is no temperature right now. ;)

  2. Somehow my '89 Dodge Colt managed to start perfectly this morning, when it was -10! That old car just keeps plugging away! I hope you're enjoying the snow you're getting there in N.C.! That's kinda rare, eh!

  3. Really? That's nothing short of amazing! I remember when we first moved to Yuma in June of 2005, our car battery died because of the heat, LOL. We had never seen anything like it.

Yes, we are enjoying the snow. It's soooo pretty. :o)

  5. Joel--

I empathize with your shivering!!! As of right now, it's -5 here. My husband and I are big Packer fans, but I have to admit, I'm awfully glad we'll be watching them beat the Giants in the comfort of our livingroom, and not in the bitter cold of Green Bay!!!

By the way, great posts on the armor of God. Still chewing on them.

  6. Alright, enough. Two Packers fans are just too much for me (Angela I've seen all your comments on myspace). ;) I'm gonna have to kick some of you off of here! LOL. But yeah, with an expected high temp of 6ยบ during at Lambeau Field, I think home would be the best place for fans to watch the game!

My Chargers are out of it. My favorite team is the STL Rams, but also root for the Chargers because I have a lot of family there.

I'm not a Giants fan nor a Packers fan, but I'll be rooting against the Pats in two weeks. :)

    Sheryl,

We drove through Arizona and up some steep mountain hills in the heat of the summer of '83 on our way out to California, and gave our rental car the workout of its life! I'm still trying to figure out if I'd rather die of extreme heat or extreme cold. LOL

  7. Hey Joel--

I've had my two hours of mourning the Packers' loss, and feel ready to face the world now. Thanks for the grace you extended in not kicking me off here. :)

I'll join you in rooting against the Pats.

  8. Oh my goodness, I bet your rental car did get the workout of its life!! Haha, I hear you about the extreme heat or extreme cold...*scratches head* Good food for thought, that one. LOL

  9. So, I'm eating a little crow with my Green Bay comments. Did you watch the game, they were miserably cold. I can't decide now if I want to see the Pats loose or NY.

We are in the teens this morning in TN. I think I had already forgotten how cold that really is.

I think being in extreme cold would be better than extreme heat. At least with hypothermia you become delerious and don't know what is happening. Just a thought.

  10. A funny thing happened on the way to the...

Last night I did watch the game, well I watched the second half. Let me just back up and give some background and say that up until last night, I've rooted against the Packers for several years, due to a "rivalry" of sorts with someone I used to know. I haven't seen this guy for two football seasons so I haven't really dealt with that issue, and I guess that since I know that I have at least two friends here who are die-hard Packers fans, I found myself in a very strange place last night - sorrowful for the Packers loss!

It was a VERY strange feeling! LOL. It started when the Giants missed the 2nd field goal that would've won the game for them. I said, "Yeah!" and then I asked myself where that came from! Then when the Packers won the overtime coin toss, I was happy about that for a second and again I had to ask myself what's going on here. I knew it was because of my friends, but it was just so strange rooting for Green Bay. :) Then when the ball was turned over, I felt my heart sink. It wasn't nearly anything like rooting for my beloved St. Louis Cardinals baseball team... but I do know that when the Giants did finally manage the game-winning field goal, I pictured you guys in front of your TVs and I could honestly sympathize and empathize with your loss.

As for dying in extreme heat or extreme cold... I also don't know where that idea came from when I brought it up last night. LOL. It's not the type of thought that would generally creep into my mind! However it's interesting to think about it. :)

  11. Joel--

Awww... I'm touched that you could empathize with us, even though we weren't rooting for a team you cared much about. Must have been the Holy Spirit :). I won't spoil your generosity by going into details of what a huge Brewer fan my husband is. Every year, he says the same thing.."Mark my words, thsi is the year the Brewers make the playoffs." Unfortunately for him, we do mark them, and then he has to eat them later.

I, too, found myself in a strange place last night. While I was hoping the Giant's kicker would have missed that winning field goal, if the Packers HAD to lose, I was kinda glad it happened that way, since the kicker had missed two previously. I felt bad for him. I think that comes from the years my son was the soccer team goalie in high school and college. I'm pretty sure each shootout he was involved in took a few years off my life.

Cold versus hot? I hate the extremes of either, which makes living here in Wisconsin interesting.

  12. Thank you for your sympathizing with our pain as Packer fans. It was just a sad showing. In all honesty it is the first time a game made me cry. I think I have passed some sports fan threshhold. On to the hopes of a new year :)
