OT: Backup your Blogger blog

Another off topic post.

One of the tech blogs that I subscribe to is labnol.org. I found this free Blogger Backup Utility through this site. After installing the program, you simply give it your blogger information and it will download all your blogs and comments for safe keeping on your computer. If there happens to be a mishap with your Blogger account, this utility promises to restore your blog posts. Remember to back up regularly! Not that there's a HUGE chance of losing your blogs, but many people have been hacked and this is a great utility to keep your blogs safe.

The original article is here at www.labnol.org and the actual site to download the software is www.codeplex.com.

  1. Thanks, Joel!

I have several Blogger blogs, and can hardly imagine them "disappearing" after months or years.

Yet I have contacts in the marketing field that have had this happen.

I didn't know they could be backed up.

  2. You're welcome, Terry. I have four blogs, two of which I update regularly (this one and our Grace Walk program), and it would be a pain to lose them. I've also heard stories recently of people who have lost their blogs, so hopefully this will be a help "just in case."

  3. Joel, I finally got around to doing the back-up. Charlie had to help me install the program and get it all started since I couldn't understand the instructions but he said everything's okay now. Thanks for this info.

  4. Aida, I'm glad it's of use to you. I've backed mine up a few times now, and I plan on doing it regularly, just in case something bad were to happen.

  5. Good ides, Joel. I told my husband it would be disasterous for humanity if my blogs were lost. He was unimpressed. He didn't seem to view it as a potential crisis.
