I'm not going to stay on this for very long, either in my blog posts or in the comments, but since this has been a part of the conversation lately, I just thought I'd throw this in. This is for "fun," but yet it is a very serious matter.
What is the correct wording of this post-cross, post-resurrection scene recorded in Acts 16:29-31?
A. Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" So they said, "Hey, be cool, my man! Chill. Don't worry about it. Just look within. Everyone is saved. The kingdom of God is within you."
B. Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." (NKJV)
C. "Save the Last Dance for Me."
Bonus question!
What is the correct wording of 2 Corinthians 2:15-16?
A. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ. What a sweet smell for everyone!
B. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. (NKJV)
C. Smells Like Nirvana (thanks Weird Al!)
Bonus: answer is 'C' sorta..Smells like 'Team' Spirit (ROFL)
ReplyDeleteI love these lol!!! Very hilarious, Joel.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, I don't think we ought to be passive when someone preaches the lie of universalism. We have to let the person know they're wrong. It's a very dangerous lie to spread around to unbelievers and it does them no favor.
Jesus let me know I was wrong through how he lived his life, death, resurrection and ascension. He showed me what right looked like and it didn't look like me.
ReplyDeleteDoes believing in the possibility that he will succeed with everyone make me a universalist?
Alvin... Team Spirit... "Good answer." Good play on words there. :)
ReplyDeleteMatthew Daylon Daelon Campbell... I love Weird Al. Well, not enough to marry him, but ya know...
And yes, this whole issue is a serious and dangerous lie that needs to be addressed.
okdiane... Believing "in the possibility that he will succeed with everyone," as I said before, is a nice thing to "hope," but hope will never supersede the truth.
