The answer is always B - 2/10/08

Which is the correct wording of Paul's words in Philippians 1:6?

A. "...being confident in my devotion to the work of God, I have begun a good work for Him and I will be faithful to carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

B. "...being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ..." (NKJV)

C. ¯"I don't want to work. I just want to bang on the drum all day."¯

  1. Hey Reggis. . .I am going to ask for a 'life line'

  2. Joel, I know you said "B" is the correct answer but "C" sure sounds like a lot of fun to me.

  3. I too am engaged in 'C' - thus the need for a life line...

  4. We have three "life" lines here on our little game show, but be very careful which one you choose (B), because they are not all necessarily grounded in "life." :)

    A. Phone one of your local pastors and ask them for their opinion.
    B. Check out Phil 1:6 in the Bible.
    C. Make up something completely ridiculous (and yes, lots of fun)!

  5. My son has a drum set, and I am sooooo tempted to go bang on it. I've been singing that tune all day...thanks a lot Joel.

My answer: because of B, I'm inclined to C.

I think Joel's 'lifeline A' is the 50/50. And 'lifeline B' is the 'phone a Friend'. It seems in this case, the audience likes 'C'.

  6. After many hours of scrutinizing the Scriptures, analyzing the Greek, cross referencing, studying numerous commentaries over this quiz, I will say B!!!!!

But I do prefer the flavor of The Message with this one….

There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.

  7. Kathy,

Anytime I can get a song stuck in someone's head, I'm happy to oblige. :)

In my experience, my "lifeline A" would be more like 10/90. LOL

LS, I'm glad you labored heavily in your homework assignment. LOL :) Thanks for confirming that the answer is B. I do also love the Message version that you included here. It really brings out the heart and depth of the truth of Paul's words!
