"One" (In the Name of Love)

Ok so overall this song doesn't go along with my "One" post from the other day, but as I was out and about this morning I was thinking about that post and this song came on the radio. A couple of the verses do go somewhat along with my post. And... I simply like the song, so I thought I'd post it. The song, of course, also goes along with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, celebrated earlier this week.

"One man come in the name of love..."
"One man come here to justify..."
"One man betrayed with a kiss..."

U2 - Pride (In the Name of Love)

  1. Oh, how I love this song! I like just about anything by U2 actually, but this is one of the best, for sure!

If you haven't yet, read "Walk On; the spiritual journey of U2." These guys understand Grace in a way so many Christians do not. Becoming Christians during a dark time in Doublin gave them an appreciation for Grace that many who have never had to fight for their faith will ever know.

After their first tour in America, Bona said American Christians made him want to puke. He couldn't get over the TV preachers, the massive corporate churches, and the hypocrisy.

The book really opened my eyes and helped me see Grace in a whole new light. It also explained a lot of their songs. :-)

  2. Erica,

I haven't read that book, but you're not the first one to recommend it to me so it's going on my list of books to get! I like Bono's no-nonsense view of Christ and Christianity and his boldness is speaking up for what he believes in. I probably don't see eye to eye with him on every little thing, but I've definitely gleaned a lot of good things from listening to him.

Many of U2's songs are not necessarily the easiest to understand, or at least some of them seem ambiguous or unclear, so it would be cool to be able to read about their lives and gain a perspective on the lyrics. Thanks for bringing this up!
