Gmail turns 5

Gmail turned five years old the other day. Does anyone have any idea why it's still in beta??? It's a great product, but I simply wonder why it's taking so long to become an 'officially released' product.

  2. Yeah, it does seem like it should be older... and that it should be out of beta! But if you go to mail.google.com, check out the logo that says Gmail by Google. It says Beta right there. I noticed it about 2 years ago, and I keep waiting, thinking it will come out of beta any day. Hmmm. :)

  4. Beta is software that has been released to users for testing before its official release. I don't think it generally takes 5 years! LOL
